Yes, Southern California, There is a Santa Claus!

Tough Year Doesn’t Dampen South Coast Winery’s Holiday Cheer:
Yes, Southern California, There Is A Santa Claus

TEMECULA, CA – DECEMBER 18, 2009 –  With economists preaching doom and gloom, and every day news reports of skyrocketing unemployment rates, I found myself stuck as I faced my holiday celebration press release deadline.   I, like a lot of us, found myself believing there’s too little time, too many projects and too few dollars to capture the holiday spirit.

But, alas, sometimes it takes the eyes of a child to open up the minds of men.  I looked at all of the family events South Coast Winery Resort & Spa had planned for the holidays.  I marveled at the laughter permeating the tasting room and the holiday lights illuminating the property.  I recalled seeing the child-like joy in the eyes of Frances Packham, South Coast’s General Manager, as she repeatedly proclaimed at our planning session meetings, “South Coast Winery Resort & Spa won’t let a tough year dampen its guests’ holiday cheer.”   I then recalled the famous dialogue that occurred between an eight-year old girl, named Virginia, and a brilliant editor, Francis Church, at THE NEW YORK SUN some 100 years ago.

It seems as though, like Virginia, I had gotten caught up in the day-to-day and was left wondering where the magic of the season had gone.  The wise editor assured Virginia that her little friends had been “affected by the scepticism of a sceptical age,” that “they do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds.”

The editor wisely explained that “Santa exists just as certainly as love and generosity, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.”  Out of nowhere, a Miracle happened on Rancho California Road.  In my tiny office at South Coast Winery Resort & Spa, my heart grew 10 sizes that day, and the magic came alive, as I began to envision the holiday fun families would be having at our resort this year:

A PROPER FAREWELL TO 2009:  Mischief & Merriment!!!

This year, Southern California says goodbye to 2009 with the greatest spectacle this side of the Mississippi on New Year's Eve when South Coast Winery Resort & Spa’s  GM turns over the resort to the King and Queen of Carnivale.

Conveniently located just about an hour’s drive from Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange County California, lies the casually elegant South Coast Winery Resort & Spa.   Judged California State Winery of the year for the past two years running, our winery resort will provide its guests with a feast of fine foods and award winning wines, while they experience a world of exotic samba dancers, strolling jesters, mystic tarot card readers, costumed snake charmers and entertaining stilt walkers.  Guests also have the opportunity to dance the night away to a variety of hot Latin bands performing throughout each venue found on the resort.  Best of all, a portion of the gala benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children Los Angeles.

For those looking forward to putting a proper finish on a rather peculiar year with a fun-filled night of mischief and merriment, please call 1-866-994-6379 or visit for details.

Today, I ask that you too take heed to Mr. Church’s age-old editorial and feel in your heart its truth:

“There is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.  No Santa Claus! Thank God! He lives and lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.”

Times may appear to be tough right now, but thank God we are all blessed with the ability to create our own experiences.  By doing so, we are able to enjoy the magic of faith, poetry, love, and romance -- the gifts that live and live forever.

Merry Christmas Southern California from Santa and the Elves at South Coast Winery Resort & Spa!
